2016 Topps Archives 65th Anniversary Box

I finally saw one of these boxes sitting at Wal-Mart and picked one up.  For the price I couldn't complain about getting a guaranteed autograph, although I don't have high expectations for pulling a big name player.

As you can see, these cards are reprints of other cards.  I took a picture of the back and put it down further below.  There are a few cool reprint cards in here, but nothing mind blowing.  Topps has reprinted some of these cards as "inserts" the past few years.

For my auto I got Scott Hatteberg.  The only reason I recognize this name is from the scene in Moneyball when he hits a walk off homerun to extend the A's winning streak. lol

I'll throw this onto the trade pile for anyone interested.  Thanks for stopping by!

Topps 2017 Series 1

I purchased a few jumbo packs from my LCS last week.  Unfortunately, I didn't get any hits, but I got a few Cubs and solid inserts.

  • Kyle Schwarber and Jorge Soler base cards.
  • Chicago Cubs World Series champions card!
  • Kris Bryant and Kyle Hendricks League Leaders inserts.

  • Dansby Swanson rookie card!
  • Evan Longoria 5 Tool insert - cool looking insert.
  • A gold Shin-Soo Choo out of /2017.

  • These 1987 inserts are awesome.  Brings back fond memories of collecting this set as a kid.

After not getting any hits from the jumbo packs, I decided to hit up eBay and check out the autos for sale.  I ended up finding a Jim Abbott auto and an Addison Russell manufactured Jackie Robinson patch for cheap.

A few days later I jumped back on eBay and saw a couple of the 2017 Topps Hobby Silver Packs for an affordable price.  I grabbed both of those and pulled a Jose Altuve auto!  These are chrome versions of the 1987 inserts and look pretty nice.  I'm pretty happy with the players I received.

If you are interested in any of these, (minus the Cubs cards), let me know and we can work out a trade!

Mail Day #4 - Auto's and Inserts

I've got some bigger things to post, but I wanted to do a quick pick up post here before I forget.  I have done some trading recently with some friends on Twitter and picked up a few cards from eBay.  None of the Twitter pickups are Cubs.  However, I did go to my LCS and picked up a couple packs of 2016 Topps Heritage Minor League and found a Rizzo I didn't have in my PC.

First up is an Andy Pettite from 2016 Bowman's Best, a Harold Baines auto /50 from 2016 Stadium Club, and an Anthony Rizzo /199 from 2013 Topps Archives.

  • The Pettite insert is awesome because they used the 1996 design.  I plan on picking up more of these.
  • The Baines auto popped up on eBay for cheap, so I grabbed it for trade bait.
  • Lastly, the Rizzo my LCS had, so I grabbed it for the PC.

Next up I have a couple of Gypsy Queen autos of Trevor Cahill and Christian Yelich.

  • The Trevor Cahill auto goes to the 2016 Cubs  roster auto/relic collection I started.  Check the PC tab on the blog to see how that collection is going.
  • Christian Yelich was part of a twitter trade I had.  He is a good young player that I think I'll start collecting when I see his stuff for cheap.

Finally, the two packs of 2016 Heritage Minor Leagues didn't give me much.  I got a cool insert of Billy McKinney and a blue border parallel /99 of Osvaldo Abreu.

I'll add the Harold Baines auto to the for trade section of my blog.  More trade items will be added shortly, now that I'm organizing my cards.
