Mail Day #5 and LCS Visit

I hit up my LCS and decided to dig through the cheaper boxes of cards they have in the back.  After looking through the cheaper autos, I settled on a 2013 Topps Archives Ruben Sierra auto.  I enjoyed watching him play when my parents took me to the occasional Texas Ranger game in the early 90's.

When I got back up to the counter I decided to try my luck on a few packs of 2017 Topps Series 1 and I got a hit!  Continuing my streak of hitting Diamondbacks, I pulled a Paul Goldschmidt relic.  I'll throw this onto the "For Trade" page on the blog.

My last pack I got a "Rediscover Topps" Tom Glavine rookie card.  This has been the best buyback I've gotten from 2017 Topps for sure.

For my most recent mailday I was finally able to snag an Ian Happ auto.  I also picked up a Jorge Soler auto from 2015 Topps Heritage Baseball '51 Collection.  I really love the look of the '51 design and want to also pick up the Addison Russell auto from this set too.

Mail Day #3

For this week's mail day I got an autograph of someone I've been wanting since he was drafted by the Cubs.

Donruss Optic 2016 Studio Signatures Kris Bryant!  I've always loved the studio cards from the early 90's.  It's nice that they have been brought back in a "chrome" type card.  I don't think I'll be able to get very many Kris Bryant auto cards due to the price, so this most likely will be the only one in my collection.  Of course I can always dream of pulling one of his autos from a pack.

Mail Day #2

Today's mail day is an Anthony Rizzo Topps Finest refractor auto /150 and an Arismendy Alcantara autographed ball!

This is my first Anthony Rizzo autograph and I really like the look of this card.  Anything that is a chrome or refractor autograph looks pretty great, in my opinion.

As for the Arismendy Alcantara ball, the auto has a slight smudge on it, but that doesn't bother me as I don't think its too noticeable.  Alcantara is no longer with the Cubs, he was traded to the A's, but I had already started collecting him before the trade.  He is a super-sub type player, but I enjoyed watching him play, plus he has a really nice autograph.

Mail Day #1

My first mail day on the blog is for 3 cards I got online.  I got an Anthony Alford Bowman Inception 2016 auto, Arismendy Alcantara Topps Heritage 2014 auto and a Kris Bryant Topps National Baseball Card Day 2016.

My local card shop didn't participate in NBCD 2016, but I figured I might as well pick up the one card I was interested in for a couple dollars online.

The Alcantara is my first Topps Heritage autograph and I really do love the look of this card.  Topps Heritage autos are so cool looking on "vintage" paper stock and I hope to find more in the future.

Anthony Alford is currently no. 98 on MLB's Top 100 prospect list.  I hope he does well in the future and the card goes up in value.  Even if it doesn't, I love the look of these cards with the galaxy background.
